About the artist

Anna Conti is quintessentially a San Francisco artist. Once or twice a week she heads out to paint and/or photograph the natural and not-so-natural world of San Francisco. She finds her inspiration equally on the ocean beach and on the neighborhood street corner; in the underbelly of the bridge, in the architectural drama of a construction site. Her work tends toward the close-up rather than the expansive view, and it makes her powerful paintings strangely intimate. They are comfortable to be around, and make you want to come back for another look. It is that refinement of the familiar San Francisco places that Anna Conti captures in her series of cityscapes.
